I’m offended by something you wrote! How dare you?!
Are you really offended? Or have you actually just had your eyes opened and are masking your shame as anger?

How do you come up with such great, and often hilarious article ideas?

Mostly just by observing people in the coporate world. I just write about things and people that annoy me.

Your “How to Retire With at Least $1 Million” article was great! Will you be writing any more articles like that?
I’m glad you liked it. Yes, there will be more articles like that in the future. Check this site often because I upload new content frequently.

Why do you hate the corporate world so much?
I’m glad you asked! It’s because the corporate world is full of self-important assholes who sound like idiots when they speak elaborate yet empty sentences full of corporate buzzwords, who cheerlead their company’s motto 24/7 thinking it will boost management’s “perception” of them thus maybe landing them a whopping 2% raise this year, and who are so brainwashed that they think it’s perfectly acceptable to work 20 or 30 hours per week of unpaid overtime, every week, if it’s for the benefit of the company.

It’s also because of managers who give poor performance reviews, citing infractions such as “not going to happy hour” and “not asking enough questions in meetings” as evidence of “not being a team player.”

Being in that environment brings me down. There’s no motivation to do anything other than not get fired. There’s no direct reward for efficiency (other than being given more work). If you implement new procedures to reduce process time by 20%, or automate a process to save 15 man hours per week, or modify code to make some process more efficient, the company obviously benefits, but you don’t. There’s no reward, no bonus, no time off (without penalty). You’re just given more work.

I’d rather live my own life than be a corporate slave. After work, I want to go to the gym and then go home and relax or spend time on my personal projects and hobbies. I don’t want to be forced into spending more time at work or be penalized for not going to happy hour with co-workers and wasting two or three hours listening to them complain about how much they hate their lives, their spouses, and their bodies while they drink away their woes.

Wow. I typed in what I felt in Google and this page pops up.

I’ve been actively working on changing this and will have a way out March ‘10. Stay tuned for more updates.
